Celebrating Freedom

Celebrating Freedom – Independence Day 2019
Living Water Church – Pastor George Dupree

Intent of the nation– The founding fathers of America most definitely wanted America to be one nation under God, not a nation without God.

No Separation– You will not find the phrase separation of church & state in any of the writings that laid the foundation for America. Some people say that Thomas Jefferson said that there should be a separation of church and state, in other words no religion in the government… but this is what he actually wrote to the Danbury Baptists in 1802 – Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.

Absurdity– The phrase separation of church and state has been being thrown about for several decades and many people tend to believe it’s in the constitution or some other critical writing in our country. It’s just not there… William James (1842-1910) The father of modern Psychology said • “There’s nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it.”

Our Government– The three branches of our government are based on scripture • Isaiah 33:22 For the LORD is our Judge, (JUDICIAL) The LORD is our Lawgiver, (LEGISLATIVE) The LORD is our King; (EXECUTIVE) He will save us

America’s Heritage – This nation was founded on the principles of Christianity. 52 out of the 55 people who drew up the constitution were evangelical Christians. 24 had Biblical Degrees

Karl Marx said– “Take away a heritage of a people and they are easily persuaded.” Karl Marx, Founder of Communism

Patrick Henry said – It can not be emphasized too strongly and too often that this nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religion but on the gospel of Jesus Christ” He also said “Give me liberty or give me death”

John Quincy Adams said– America’s constitution was written for moral and religious people, it will not work for any other people.”

George Washington said– “Do not let anyone claim to be a true American if they attempt to remove religion from politics.”

At Valley Forge he said – “The smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.

Abraham Lincoln said– “Whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord”

Benjamin Franklin said– “I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? . . . I therefore beg leave to move — that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that Service.”

Teddy Roosevelt said– The teachings of the Bible are so interwoven and entwined with our civic and social life that it would be impossible for us to figure what life would be if these teachings were removed.

Dwight D. Eisenhower said– Without God, there would be no American form of government, nor any way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first – the most basic – expression of Americanism. Thus the founding fathers of America saw it, and thus with God’s help. It will continue to be.

In Conclusion
We as believers in Christ have the duty to study and prove that America’s government was designed to be One Nation Under God
