Christmas Unwrapped – Uncovering the Meaning of Christmas
De-Stressing The Holidays
Sunday, December 8, 2019 – Pastor George M. Dupree

The Christmas Holiday Season can certainly be Joy-Filled and of course, they can be Stress-Filled too. Maybe you had to stretch a little bit even to just read this post but I encourage you to read on, it’ll take only a few minutes…Here are some steps to take for De-Stressing The Holidays

1 – LOOK UP
It’s easy to get distracted… So we have to focus on things above, not earthly things. When we focus on the things of God we can better deal with the things of this earth. Colossians 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

2 – DRESS For The Holidays
During the holidays we can alleviate stress by reaching out to others. We can look around us and see that there are people who are in need. Not just in need of material things but also in need of compassion, kindness and patience Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience Isaiah 61:3 – (Put on) the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

3 – FORGIVE Others
During the holidays there will be plenty of opportunities to forgive. From forgiving the person who takes your parking spot, to the rude cashier or the person who cuts you in a line to the more serious offenses of life. We have to forgive the friend or relative who has hurt us in the past. All of these things are opportunities for us to forgive, and forgive we must. Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

4 – LOVE Others
The key to it all is love. It always comes down to that one thing… love. It’s the thing that started it all with God sending His Son to us because He loved us. Jesus came to us with Compassion – Kindness – Humility – Gentleness – Patience
Jesus showed us the way to live. Love binds it all together. Love is the glue that can repair a broken life; it’s the glue that holds us together when our world is falling apart. Love Is The Key. Colossians 3:14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity

LOVE IS THE BEAUTIFUL RIBBON ON THE GIFT OF LIFE

These are the steps to De-Stress The Holidays – If we live by these instructions we will have the powerful peace of God Rule Our Hearts Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

We believe that Praise & Prayer go hand in hand and that great things happen when we do them as a group.

There’s an old song that says “It was prayer that got us here…”
At Living Water Church we believe that, prayer is our lifeline to heaven and we want to see God’s Kingdom come and His will be done on earth just as it is in heaven. That’s how Jesus taught us to pray and we’ll be doing that on 10/25.

We’ll be looking for you to join with us because we’re better together.

Luke 5:1-11NKJV

1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. 4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

TRY AGAIN
Sunday, October 13, 2019
Pastor George M. Dupree

Luke 5:1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. From now on you will catch men.”11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

Jesus sees two boats by the seashore; the men left the boats and are cleaning their nets after a long night of fruitless fishing. Jesus gets into Peter’s boat and preaches for a while, afterwards He says to Simon “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”

This was an interruption for Simon: he was busy, he had to get the nets prepared for the next time he’s go fishing. What’s your reaction when the Lord interrupts your day?
He told Simon to TRY AGAIN – He knew he caught nothing all night but He said try again. With that “launch out” He also told him there would be a catch.

Maybe Simon didn’t want to do it, he was busy and tired but he said “nevertheless”. We don’t know exactly why he said yes, maybe he felt like it, maybe he thought if he did it he’d get rid of this preacher, who knows but the fact is he did it. And when he did he got the surprise of his life, a catch so big he needed another boat to help bring it in. They filled both boats with so much fish that they both began to sink!

Simon said NEVERTHELESS – Regardless of my experience today, regardless of my feelings or what I think, I’ll do it. Perhaps God just touched him and he decided to trust, to obey.

We read that obedience releases the gift of the Holy Spirit
Acts 5:32 We are here to tell you about all this, and so is the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to everyone who obeys God.

For Simon last night was a setback, but it turned into a setup.
And we know that all things work together for good! – Romans 8:28

Maybe you tried so hard and so many times and you’ve not seen the results you wanted, don’t give up – TRY AGAIN

Anybody can quit but NOT YOU; you’re better than that, you’re more than a conqueror, you can do all things through Christ.

Losers focus on what they’re going through, winners focus on what they’re going to. The Bible declares that we are going from glory to glory, agree with the Word and see it come to pass in your life.

What you’re going through today is the vehicle that’ll bring you into the plan from God for you.

When we say yes we put our trust in the Lord – Here’s some promises concerning trusting
† Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

† Psalms 125:1 Those who trust in the LORD are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

† Psalms 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. 4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. 5 Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.

Don’t Give Up – Try Again
† Galatians 6:9 So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

When Simon said nevertheless nothing was different –

Same Boat –
Same Nets –
Same Lake –

Well, one thing was different – Jesus was in the boat!

I don’t know what you’re facing today. Maybe you’ve toiled a long time with no results, please, try again; don’t give up. If God’s given you a word or a promise from His word hold on, try again and by all means, invite Jesus into your boat.

There Is Hope For You
Pastor George M. Dupree – Sunday, September 29, 2019

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 23 So now wrap your heart tightly around the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises!

Psalms 31:24 Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD.

Hope Is An Anchor For Your Soul – Get Ahold Of It
Hebrews 6:17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil

Stay In The Scriptures – They Give Us Hope
Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Staying In The Scriptures is a part of working out your salvation.

This is where the good soil in your life is worked and you’ll produce fruit in this soil.
It’s not easy – but it’s worth it.

Learn to be full of HOPE, that’s right, you have to learn to be full of HOPE. There are things that you can practice to be full of HOPE.

1. Study the WORD.
2. Say the WORD.
3. Surround yourself with POSSITIVE people, not doubters and complainers.
4. Stay full of PRAISE.
5. Stay in FELLOWSHIP, don’t stay home from CHURCH when you can come, you’ll be built up

The daily discipline of being in the Word sustains your HOPE

Psalms 119:81 My soul faints for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word.

Psalms 119:114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.
Psalms 119:147 I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word.

Praise Nurtures Hope
Romans 5:2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Job 14:6 For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. 8 Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, 9 Yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.

You may be in a difficult time right now but it’s subject to change.
Maybe your marriage is shaky – but that’s subject to change
Maybe your child is going in a bad way – but that’s subject to change
Maybe your finances are depleted – but that’s subject to change
Maybe you’re sick right now – but that’s subject to change
Maybe you’re having trouble in school – but that’s subject to change
Maybe you’re without a job – but that’s subject to change

Be A Prisoner Of Hope
Zechariah 9:11 As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. 12 Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

You can be a prisoner to a lot of things:
1. Anger
2. Doubt
3. Bitterness
4. Hatred
5. Fear

But you can be a prisoner of HOPE

No matter what you face you can expect God to be with you and help you get through it.

Maybe He’ll remove it, maybe He’ll give you the courage to go through it, either way He’ll be with you.
Keep on BELIEVING –
Keep On HOPING –
God Is Able To Do More than You IMAGINE –

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Proverbs 23:18 For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off.
