Uncluttered – Make Room For God

Uncluttered – Make Room For God
Sunday, March 17, 2019 – Pastor George M. Dupree

Sometimes our lives are packed with so much stuff to carry or to do that life becomes overweight. It becomes time to prioritize what’s important and necessary for me.

Our life can be packed with good stuff and bad stuff. I have to decide the value of the stuff and if I’m expecting God to ADD something of value into my life there needs to be room for it otherwise I can’t fit it. And it’s better to be prepared beforehand for what God is going to do.

Here’s The Secret To Success

Proverbs 3:6 (Living Bible) In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Bitterness – anger and disappointment at being treated unfairly

Rage – violent uncontrollable anger.

Anger – a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility

Slander – a false and malicious spoken statement that causes harm

Ephesians 4:32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

Romans 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

If your life is cluttered with stuff that hinders your walk with God make the decision to get rid of it so you can grow in the Grace of God.

It Takes DISCIPLINE. It takes DEVELOPPING GOOD HABITS

1 Timothy 4:7b (LB) “Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.”

1 Timothy 4:7 (NASB) Spend your time and energy in the exercise of keeping spiritually fit.

Hebrews 12:1b (NLT) Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress.

In scuba diving weights are useful underwater – On land they hold you back

Give God FIRST Things

Give God The First THOUGHTS Of Each Day

Psalms 5:3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Mark 1:35 Very early the next morning, Jesus got up and went to a place where he could be alone and pray.

Give God The First DAY Of Each Week

The purpose of the Sabbath is – To Rest – To Connect With God & His People

Exodus 20:8 Remember that the Sabbath Day belongs to me. 9 You have six days when you can do your work, 10 but the seventh day of each week belongs to me, your God.

Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Give God Some Quality Time Every Week – You Can Do It

Proverbs 10:27 (Living Bible) Reverence for the Lord adds hours to each day.
