Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and I want to take a moment to wish you a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving happens to be one of my favorite holidays because it always reminds me that an attitude of gratitude is so very important in life. Gratitude for family and friends, gratitude for living in a country of such bounty and freedom, gratitude to the Lord for His care and concern for my life. And gratitude to my MOM for always making Thanksgiving such a special holiday at our house. Mom is still with us and for that I'm grateful, now she's passed on the matriarchal wonder of putting together a holiday meal for about 50 people to my wonderful wife, Carolyn. It is a wonderful life (we'll talk about that in December).
Each Thanksgiving my family gets together for a VERY BIG meal and just a lot of love and fun. We always watch the same funny movie together, by now most of us have it memorized, but it's still a lot of laughs. It's funny too because there's always a line ot two we never heard, or maybe forgot, but we laugh about the many layers and the deep truths behind the movie.
In reality the movie is a very funny movie about a man trying to get home for Thanksgiving and all the crazy stuff that happens along the way including him getting hooked up with this guy who he befriends and eventually invites to his house for Thanksgiving Day. There really is a deep truth to the movie after all...open your home, open your heart and enjoy the bounty of friends, family and of course lots of food!
Happy Thanksgiving.
Love,
Pastor George
