---Welcome!

We believe & teach that there is only ONE God, ONE faith & ONE Savior, Jesus Christ.

Living Water Church is a place where where you will encounter spiritual truths and get answers to some questions that we all wrestle with in a safe and welcoming environment. Come and experience what’s happening at Living Water Church!

It all began on Sunday, January 1, 1978

Over 41 years ago, Living Water started out as a Prayer Meeting in Frank & Phyllis Dupree’s living room in Laurel, NY on Long Island’s east end. Soon, the church grew, and on January 1, 1978, we moved into a storefront building in Jamesport, NY.

--- Our Lead Pastors

“Our heart & soul is to connect people with the living and powerful God.”

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.

As A Man Thinks

Our mind is very powerful, but we only use a fraction of it. Our thinking shapes who we are and how we feel. Look at the truth of what this ancient proverb says, “As [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7).

Our minds are like magnets; they draw us towards what we think about, whether good or evil, joy or sorrow. Popular psychology calls this the “Law of Attraction.” When you have sustained focus on what you think about, you begin attracting those things into your life.

We literally are the sum of our thoughts. What you think about not only embraces your whole being, but it is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of your life. You literally are what you think. Your character is a complete sum of all your thoughts.

Many people are grasping the reality of this truth and incorporating this ‘new’ philosophy and reaping success. But for Christians, the promise of success and overcoming depression are infinitely greater. When we make Christ our first priority and keep our focus on His Word, we are able to handle and overcome the vicissitudes of life.

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Meditating on the Word while filling our minds with God’s laws and applying what He says in His word is the surest way to overcome depression.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

Overcoming Depression

Living with depression is like being in a prison without bars. You want to get out. There are no visible barriers holding you in, but somehow you can’t seem to break free. When people are depressed, they are totally consumed with themselves and their circumstances. Depression imprisons its victims by robbing them of hope while drowning them in a sea of melancholy, self-pity, low self esteem, no confidence and fear.

Remember when Jesus started His ministry. He boldly proclaimed that part of His mission was to heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and set at liberty those who are oppressed.

When we allow His perfect love to flood our hearts, fear and other negative, depressive thoughts won’t find a place to stay in us. When we draw near to God, He draws near to us through the Holy Spirit. We are confident that He will not leave us nor forsake us, so that even though we experience depression, He is with us and speaking comfort to us.

The Apostle Paul had gone through difficult times but was able to write to the Corinthian Church with these words. He states: “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Depression is no trivial matter. The enemy of our soul is bent on using this problem to destroy us by stealing our joy and our hope. Hope deferred or taken away does make the heart sick, but when our desires are fulfilled it brings life.

Every person who has ever suffered from depression, or who may face it in the future, should know that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. Jesus said that we shall know the truth and it will set us free.

Knowing is not just having knowledge, but personal application will bring transformation. If depression seems to overshadow you like a black cloud, put on a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Be appreciative, grateful and humble.

By doing this, you put on the helmet of salvation. Rise up, and confidently convince yourself the promise God has given you; “for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
